It's a challenge for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

We're talking about the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the record chasers, are all that remain for a squad that has achieved everything.

It needed as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It is hard for their batters to possess a record if not provided the chance.

Finally, the outcome of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy being given a chance to create her newest gem.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

If this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Some will argue the argument supporting final game tension. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this ton was far harder to see coming.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it has been a challenging time because it seemed I lacked timing whatsoever," stated Healy.

"However when you take the field, your competitive instincts activate and you just lock into the match."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in taking over from iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in each encounter, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's motivation.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and from there Healy was in motion.

"A chance to go out there and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

By the time she was out Australia needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the belief to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if necessary, we are confident we can succeed."

That comment will be the last rival teams at this World Cup should hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this triumph following win against Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of damaged tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at an important competition.

So great is her will, she later said she wished she had played despite the injury.

Yet even as she later admitted those injuries have postponed thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is likely to be her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve an international tournament as leader.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
