Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his initial trophy for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has endured a challenging season, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in specific - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and finally splitting with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's first championship following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt after March of the previous year.

Success also means Medvedev has won twenty-one victories at 21 different tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my children simultaneously, so to win a championship is really nice," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six championship matches, including in that event earlier this year.

The player's defensive strategy and recurring emotional displays on court had caused observers to question if his capacity to perform at the highest level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

The champion came back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, securing four of the concluding five games to go ahead.

The competitors swapped breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to create a third set.

Moutet defended 4 early chances in a close deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev earned the title with a shot at the net area, with his opponent unable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
