Zohran Mamdani Vows a 'New Era' for New York City in Inaugural Speech
On his inauguration day in the mayor's office, Zohran Mamdani vowed to “transform” the metropolis, declaring “a different age” and an bold start to his tenure.
A Groundbreaking Mayor
The new political star, who was a virtually unknown state assemblyman, now stands as the city's first mayor born in Africa. He additionally marked a milestone by being the first to be sworn in using the Islamic holy text.

Mamdani ended his speech with a direct statement: “The work has only just begun.”
